An Exotic Gateaway
Salalah Rotana Resort lies along the shores of the Indian Ocean, in the beautiful Dhofar region. It sits about 35 km from Salalah International Airport, in the Hawana Salalah development. The resort is built with views of turquoise sea, man-made lagoons, canals, gardens, and mountains in the distance. During the Khareef (monsoon) season (mid-June to mid-September), the surroundings turn lush, misty, cool and very green, making the natural setting especially magical.
Architecture & Accommodation
The resort features 422 rooms and suites. The architecture has Omani-inspired touches, with a layout that is clustered around waterways and lagoons, pathways, canals, and gardens which lead to the beach areas. Rooms often include balconies or terraces. There are different categories: garden-view rooms, ocean-view rooms, family suites, and “Club Rotana” rooms with added amenities. Interiors blend modern comfort with local decorative elements.
Dining & Culinary Options
There are multiple restaurants and bars, including an all-day dining restaurant serving global cuisine, beachside and casual eateries, specialty restaurants featuring Eastern / Far East and Arabian-inspired food, lounges and a terrace for relaxed drinks. Guests can enjoy meals indoors or al fresco, savoring ocean views, garden or lagoon views, or sitting by the beach.
Facilities & Wellness
Salalah Rotana Resort is well-provisioned for relaxation and activity. It has private beach access, two outdoor swimming pools (including an infinity pool and lagoon-style pools), tennis courts, padel courts, and beach volleyball etc. The wellness side includes Zen the Spa, saunas, steam rooms, jacuzzi, and a well-equipped fitness centre (Bodylines). There is also a kids club (Flipper’s Kids Club) with indoor & outdoor areas, aqua park access during certain seasons, and spaces for families as well as couples.
Events & Meetings
The resort also has event space: meeting rooms, a ballroom, flexible indoor & outdoor venues ideal for weddings, business meetings, social events. The service tends to be attentive, with staff trained for both leisure and business travellers.
Strengths & Considerations
Strengths:
• Stunning seaside & lagoon environment
• Very good range of amenities for both families and couples
• Strong balance between leisure and service
• Excellent in Khareef season when nature around becomes very lush
Things to consider:
• Because of seaside location and local climate, humidity can be high, especially in wet season
• Some guest feedback indicates issues with maintenance or wear in parts of the resort (common in coastal resorts in humid climates)
• Depending on season, the resort can be busy (especially during Khareef, when domestic tourism peaks)
