A Mountain Retreat Above Gstaad
High on a sunny terrace above Gstaad, the Ermitage Wellness- & Spa Hotel sits in Schönried, surrounded by scenic mountain landscapes yet just a short journey from the heart of Gstaad. Distinguished as a 5-star chalet-style resort, it combines traditional Swiss architecture with modern wellness luxury.
Rooms & Suites with Alpine Warmth
The hotel offers a collection of 96 rooms and suites, each thoughtfully crafted to reflect the mountain environment. Interiors embrace wood paneling, warm tones, cozy designs, and modern comforts. Among the room types is the Gstaad Junior Suite (38–40 m²) featuring a balcony and generous layout. Family suites and connecting rooms are also available for those seeking more space.
A Wellness Oasis: Spa, Pools & Relaxation
One of Ermitage’s defining features is its expansive spa and wellness domain:
• The spa spans approximately 3,700 m² and features indoor and outdoor brine/saltwater baths, sports pools with mountain views, and multiple relaxation zones.
• Steam baths, saunas, hammams, and specialized spa treatment rooms, along with a dedicated women’s spa area, offer varied wellness experiences.
• The Solbad (saline bath house) and regional spa rituals—such as the “Mountain Wellness” treatment inspired by local tradition, infuse local character into the wellness program.
Culinary & Ambience
The hotel features seven restaurant parlours, each offering specialties in a relaxed yet refined setting. A standout social spot is the One Million Stars Bar, dazzling with a ceiling of Swarovski crystals—a signature touch of glamour amid alpine ambiance. The lobby, named “Bärgblick”, is framed by panoramic windows, connecting guests visually to the surrounding peaks.
Activities, Surroundings & Heritage
• Outdoor access is immediate: the hotel sits amid hiking and cross-country trails, and offers guided nature excursions along forested paths.
• In winter, ski slopes and lifts are reachable; the Horneggli Ski Lift is just a short distance away.
• The hotel has historical roots: in 1979 it became home to Switzerland’s first alpine indoor/outdoor saltwater bathing facility. Subsequent expansions (Vitalità spa, new wings) have broadened its wellness capabilities.
• Ermitage is an official partner hotel of the Gstaad Menuhin Festival & Academy, allowing guests exclusive access to musical events and masterclasses.
